For this branding project, the goal was to match Eighteen51's attention to detail in their coffee and develop a set of brand elements as unique and hand-crafted as the products themselves.
For this branding project, the goal was to match 1851's attention to detail in their coffee with the same attention to detail in their design materials and to elevate the organization's identity to be competitive on both local and regional scales.

The word Eighteen in Eighteen51's wordmark was custom drawn letter by letter, which allowed for increased precision in the details of the design and, as a result, a more ownable and distinctive mark.
Careful attention was given to the design of each letter to ensure a balanced, legible, and memorable logotype. Eighteen51's mark was drawn in a wedge-serif style, with sharp angles and contrasting thicks and thins to evoke a character that is unapologetically modern while remaining graceful and refined.
A set of custom illustrations of coffee plants was created to be used in conjunction with the Eighteen51 wordmark. A contemporary color palette was developed to counterbalance the traditional scratchboard style drawings and fuse old and new together.
Eighteen51's package designs feature the logotype on a vertical axis to maximize its scale on the shelf, and colored labels provide information on coffee sourcing as well as tasting notes.
Clear typography and a sourcing map highlight the coffee's country of origin and describe the flavor profile of the roast. All coffee bags are also marked with a roasting date to guarantee freshness.
